Sustainable development and the Millennium Development Goals have been adopted by the Dutch government as important policy goals. Many changes are required to achieve these goals. In addition to these changes, more knowledge is needed across many fields: knowledge about social development, knowledge about alternative energy systems, and knowledge about environmental processes. The NWO is therefore furthering the necessary scientific research with the Sustainable Earth programme. |

The Sustainable Earth programme focuses on energy and raw materials, global changes in climate, habitat and environment, climate change and climate models. Knowledge for Climate and NWO Sustainable Earth work together on the following topics:
- Publicity and communication
- Adaptation to climate change
- Land use and climate change interaction
On March 14 the midterm results of the various projects* will be presented and discussed.
